,583.33 FOR Sl.00 OVER ST. LEGER The big English army sweepstakes over the Doncaster St. Legor, known as the Victory Sweep, was won by a field ticket, which included Keysoe, the winner. It was. worth 0,750 and numbered 20S05. Private R. G. Bailey of Dorchester, Dorsetshire, was its holder. Captain J. G. G. Noble of British headquarters, Wimereux. France, drew Dominion, the second horse, and ,375, and Sergeant U. Goddard of Manchester got the ticket on Itiichan, the third horse, worth ,187. All ticket holders who drew probable starters received 00 each, and there were 200 consolation prizes of 00 each. The drawing took place at Lille, France, under the direction of Major Denison, Captain W. Randall nnd associate officers and non-coms, of the British forces in France. Tickets were sold at each, and the sale total was 1919.sh3,757. Another big swep is to be held about the Cambridgeshire Handicap, to be run October 29 at Newmarket. It is expected to attract more patronage than the Victory Sweep.
