IRISH ELEGANCE A LIFETIME HORSE Handsomo and of Great Size- He Wins Portland Handicap Under 142 Pounds. Mr. J. "Whites gigantic four-year-old chestnut colt Irish Elegance is now the idol of all England and is said to be the handsomest as well as one of the largest horses ever in training. The finishing touch was put up on the quality of Irish Elegance at Doncaster September 11, when he won the Portland Handicap at five-eighths of a mile and 152 yards, under Carslake and 142 pounds, by three lengths in 1:09 on a dull track. Twelve fast horses were behind Irish Elegance. The English critics hail him as "the horse of a lifetime." He is in the Cambridgeshire, mile and an eighth, to 1m; run at Newmarket October 29. He is expected to go iu this race, even witli his weight of 149 pounds. Irish Elegance is a "short-bred" horse, so" called. His dam is not in tlie General Stud Book, though a mare of fine blood lines.
