j ANOTHER FOR AUDACIOUS L. W Foreign Stables Star Racer Continues on His Winning Way. cj r : z ti J. E. Madden Captures Babylon Handicap with Surf Rider Consistent Jock Scot Beaten. NEW YORK, N. Y., September 27. Tlie Foreign Stables Audacious, confidently ridden by Kummer, romped home an easy winner from Two Feathers in the Banquet Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth at Aqueduct this afternoon. Captain Alcock was third. Two Feathers was sent into the lead by Fator soon after the start and, showing fine speed, opened up a long lead in the back stretch. He drew aAvay steadily and held an apparently safe advantage when the field rounded into the stretch. Audacious in the meantime was taken under restraint, but kept Avithin striking distance of the leader. When straightened out in the stretch the Star Shoot horse Avas sent after Two Feathers and, gaining steadily, passed him in the final eighth and dreAV clear at the end. Two Feathers held Captain Alcock safe, for second place by the margin of a length and a quarter. Rice had the Captain under a hard drive through the stretch in an effort to overtake the leaders. He responded gamely, but was obviously tiring under his weight. Donnacona, the only other starter, mlQVed up rapidly on the turn, but retired from contention in the stretch. The race was run in tlie good time of 1:44. Tlie stake feature of todays program was the Babylon Handicap, and J. E. Madden furnished the Avinner in his fast Superman gelding Surf Rider, Avhich, by a brilliant display of speed, passed Sweep By and Ray Jay in the final eighth and won ,975 for his owner. Sweep By and My Play dominated the early running. The brother of Man o War was away like a flash and showed a fine bit of speed in the first part of the race, but tired badly in the last eighth. Sweep By took the lead, but he had no speed in reserve Avhen challenged in tlie stretch. Surf Rider came up on the outside of tlie leaders and was drawing aAvay rapidly at the finish. Fator rode a good race on the Avinner. The Superman gelding started slowly but, avcII ridden by his rider, worked into a contending position by the time the stretch was reached. Then Fator put his mount under a drive and quickly passed the tiring leaders. Ray Jay kept Avell up in contention through the entire race and was gaining on SAveep By near the end, although tiring under McAtecs hard riding. SURF RIDERS VICTORY POPULAR. Surf Riders victory was a popular one and the Madden gelding received the most enthusiastic welcome accorded any Avinner at the meeting when Fator rode him back to the judges stand. Knight of the Heather scored an easy victory in the fifth race, a selling affair for three-year-olds and over at a mile. War Note finished second, and Siren Maid third. War Note made all of the early pace and dreAV into a good lead rounding the far turn, but AA-as no match for ICniglit of the Heather when the latter challenged in tlie stretch. War Note carried top weight of 114 pounds, while the Avinner Avas. favored by the light impost of 100 pounds. The Marrone Stables Glenbells graduated impressively in the third race at five-eighths for maiden fillies. Miriam Cooper was second, ami Furious third. Penman kept the Glencairn filly close to Miriam Cooper, the early pacemaker, and put her under a hard drive in the stretch. She responded Avith courage and went to the front in the last feAv strides to win by a short head. The Foreign Stables Ten-Lec made it a double for her owners by defenting Tody and All OA-er in -tho final race of the day at six and a half furlongs. The Celt filly went into the lead right after the start and opened up a big gap on the first turn. She had plenty of speed in reserve when Tody challenged in the stretcli and drew away again to Avin by three lengths. Tody easily held AH Over safe for second place. Alexander Hamilton broke Jock Scots Avinning streak by his fiA-e-length victory over the Ogden horse in the opening race. Alexander Hamilton Avent to the front soon after the start and dreAV aAA-ay at the pleasure of his rider. Jock Scot was easily the best of the others. He could not seriously threaten the leader, however, and Sande did not ride him hard through the stretch. Wynne-wood came up with a rush through the stretch to outlast Cote dOr for the short end of the purse.
