BIG HOLIDAY CROWD AT MAISONNEUVE MONTREAL, Que., October 17. This was the Provincial Thanksgiving Day and, as a result, a holiday crowd turned out at Maisonneuve. Perfect autumn weather prevailed and the track conditions were greatly improved. The Thanksgiving Day Purse, a dash of a mile, was the carded feature and the winner turned up in T. Hodges consistent Little Dear. The winner was saved from the early pace, but responded in dctcrminad fashion when called upon and was going away through the stretch. She Devil outlasted Fircworth for second place.. The racing was spirited throughout and the winners divided between choices and outsiders. F. W. Gcrhardy, who lias controlled the racing iicrc all year for the Quebec Breeders and Racing Association, has left to act as presiding judge and racing secretary for the meeting at Maple Heights track in Cleveland. This is his first year here for Gcrhardy and he won the respect of owners, riders and the confidence of the public.
