CHURCHILL DOWNS9 FINE MEETING H H. HEWITT CARRIES OFF THE RICHEST PRIZE WITH HIS CRACK FILLY STARTLE BIT OF WHITE CHANGES LONG RUN OF ILL LUCK OF E R. BRADLEY Successful beyond the expectations of general manager Matt Winn and the other oflicers of the Kentucky Jockey Club, the Churchill Downs fall meeting left nothing undesired, both from a racing and unancial standpoint. There were only ten days of racing, from October 12 to October 22, during which time seventy races were run and 24,585 distributed in stakes and purses, the daily average distribution amounting to 2,458. Hewitt, by reason of Startles victory in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, was the largest monetary winner at the meeting. E. R. Bradley, with four victories and 2,240 to his credit, is second on the list. Montfort Jones is third, his horses making a splendid record of seven wins, six-seconds and eight thirds and ,153.
