IMPROVEPJIENTS AT PIMLICO TRACK BALTIMORE, Md.. October 25. Twelve thousand loads of top soil have been placed on the Pimlico track since last spring, first the loam and" -then topped off with sand. This gives not only a firm footing, but a nice cushion as well. Horsemen who have worked some of their thoroughbreds on it pronounce the track faster iind. safer than ever." William Garth worked a couple of yearlings the other morning and a colt by Martinet went a quarter in 23 and beat the brother to The Porter a couple of lengths. Jim Johnston sent one of his youngsters, a colt by Celt,, a quarter in 23. An improvement at Pimlico that will be much appreciated by the horsemen is the new paddock. This structure, which is about 200 feet long, is elliptic in shape. There are twenty stalls in all, with a Taised walk. The paddock is about sixty feet wide, affordng plenty of room. In height it is about thirty feet with a row of windows around its entire length near the top of the building. This affords not only plenty of light but in warm weather, when these windows are raised, a free ventilation of air as well.
