I MAIN RACE TO POLLY ANN Easily Defeats Gnome and Damask Rocket Best in Juvenile Dash. LAUREL. Md., October 25. S. L. Jenkins Polly Ann, tin? three-year-old daughter of Superman Princess Xettie, was relumed the winner of the fifth race, the most pretentious offering at I-aurel Park this afternoon. Only three started and Gnome was second, while Damask was a badly beaten last. The winner, ridden by Morris, assumed the lead immediately after the start, and displaying brilliant speed throughout held Gnome safe at the end. The latter was backed into odds-on favoritism and although ho easily raced Damask iiito defeat never seriously threatened the winner. Scratches left but five to contest the fourth race, a dash at three-quarters, for two-year-olds, in which tin- Whitney pair, Rocket and Prudish, were backed into prohibitive favoritism. Rocket was quickly sent to the front, never left the result in doubt and was under strong restraint at the end, with the diminutive Penman looking back. Prudish acteil green at the barrier, but closed fast and held Roulette safe for second place. The E. F. Whitney stable accounted for another race this afternoon when Clansman was home first in the opening dash. Oppennan was second and Dolores third. The winner went to the front rounding the far turn and was never in danger thereafter. Dolores, which had been racing in close pursuit, quit and just lasted to save the third portion of the purse. The steeplechase race was a victory for R. Tendings Shoal over Formistress anil Robert Oliver. The winner went to the front when Lc Cyprin unseated his rider at the fourth jump and showed good speed throughout. When coming to the final fence the riderless Le Cyprin swerved oiit and Klceger had to take up the winner sharply and in doing so he interfered with Robert Oliver. Formistress, which had lost considerable ground throughout the race, closed with a belated rush. A complaint of foul was lodged, but was not allowed by the stewards. Trantula was winner of the third race, earning a close decision over Widow Bedotte and Hello Pardner. The sixth race was at a mile and a half and Attorney Mttir proved the winner, witli Bill Hunley and American Soldier second and third respectively. Titania went to the front in the last race when the start came and made every post a winning one. The winner was ridden by Coltiletti and was neglected in the betting.
