ARTHUR MEEKER PRESIDENT Stanley Field Major McLaughlin and John Borden Officers Hoard of Directors of Chicago Washington WashingtonPark Park Clnl Elect Ofllcers and Announce Announcepremiership premiership Organization Plans The board of directors of the Chicago Washington Park Club met yesterday after ¬ noon at the Chicago Club on Michigan av ¬ enue and elected the following officers Arthur Meeker president Stanley Field vice president Major Frederic McLaughlin sec ¬ retary John Borden treasurer and Bradley Wilson manager managerThe The latter was instructed to open an office and get right down to business Of the twentyone directors sixteen names were pro ¬ posed and accepted leaving only five more to be secured It is significant and worthy of notice that each and everyone of the six ¬ teen gentlemen approached to act on this board readily consented and not one refused all appearing anxious to help the worthy cause along alongYesterdays Yesterdays meeting was of about three hours duration and the entire situation was gone over thoroughly and all present were optimistic ovei the hopedfor success of the undertaking undertakingIt It was decided to appoint an invitation committee which will invite 500 of the fore ¬ most citizens of Chicago and downstate cities to join this organization as founder or life members It was also proposed to a have a limited number of annual or yearly members membersThe The directors were pleased with the stand taken by the New Washington Park Breed ¬ ers Association as expressed by judge Mur ¬ phy at the Derby Dinner last Monday that it would mark time and place no obstacles in the pathway of these gentlemen who hoped to restore racing in Illinois by means of favorable legislation legislationIt It is the consensus of opinion of not only these gentlemen but everyone else interested in the thoroughbred and the great sport of racing that harmony and unity of action are essential to bring back to Chicago the glo ¬ ries of old Washington Park and the Ameri ¬ can Derby DerbyCertain Certain it is if the prominent men iden ¬ tified with the Chicago Washington Park Club are unable to secure favorable legis ¬ lation it would be folly to think that others will succeed whore they failed
