May 10— Clark Handicap candidates were on the move this rnorn-inp at Churchill Downs and some real pood work was recorded. Bon Ilommo. representative of the Mea.-lowbroolc Stable, displayed much speed when he was really "M I down" by trainer Wright. The timers caught him the first quarter in 245. half in 4. mile 1 A0. mile and an eighth 1 :." *".,. Tns is one of the fastest workouts of the spring; training period here and shows that BjIi Homme is in fine racing condition. Trainer Jorpre Barnes of the C. W. Clark stable, for the first time this season, got the I150.MQ Whiskaway to show speed in his work. He "hooked" him up with Inited Verde anil Tom Hare .Ir. Tt was a close fit between Whiskaway and United Verde ;it the end of the mile and an eighth journey, with Whiskaway slightly in the lead. Whi;-k-;iways time was: Quarter 21.-,. half 18%, three-quarters 1:14%, mile 1 :41, and mile ud an eighth IM%. United Verde irarked i;i the same notch up to the three-quarters, where he fell behind slightly, his time at this point bein 1 :15. At the mile, however, the son of GoMm Maxim was on even tc.-;r.s with Whiskaway, when the watches snapped 1:11. Inited Verdes time for the mile and an eighth was 1:55. Tom Hare Jr. stopped at the mile, which he did in 1 :43 easily. Best Pal galloped a mile in 1 :54 %. He then repeated the quarter in 23"-5 and tliree-eightha in 36. This horse is right at the tcp of his form and can run both fast and far with the best. Brookholt and Surf Rider went together, the latter dropping out at three-quarters. The timers caught them the first quarter in 231s. half 47*r.. three-quarters 1:11. seven-eighths 1:28 and mile 1 :434r.- Brookholt merely cantered the last eighth. Deadlock showed a slow mile. He was timed the first quarter in 26=r„ half E3%, three-quarters 1 :21r,. seven-eighths 1 :»%, and mile in 1:10 easily. The son of Sir Wilfred d. es not seem quite keyed up for a grueling contest. In Memoriam was given useful work over the mile and a quarter route. Trainer I and did not attempt to let the McGee colt go his best lick. He went the quarter in K%, half Sflf,, three-quarters 1 :M%, mile 1 .43. mile and an eighth 1 :58 and mile and a quarter 2:10. He dnished scarcely blowing and cooled out nicely. In Alemoriam is rady to give his best when the cai! comes. Prince Tii Tii, the Meadowbrook Stable candidate, showed a creditable trial. Alice Blue down and Miss Muffins worked together, the latter only going three-quarters. The time was quarter 23. three -eigkika 35, half 48,. three-quarters 1 :15, mile 1 :I3~v Alice Blue Gown was slowed up all through the last quarter.
