PIMLICOS WORST CARD ♦ Thursdays Racing Contested by Horses Below the Standard. ■ ♦ 1 Pastoral Swain Victor in Days Main Race in a Hot Finish With Prince Regent. ♦ PIMLICO. Md.. May 10— There was a good attendance at Pimlico today, although the card was nothing to boast of and below the usual high standard of the track. Better things are promised for tomorrow. The track was in good condition, safe, but not at its best and fastest. From the standpoint e f money to be won the feature race was the Arlington Claiming Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth, which had the respectable sum of ,000 added and. so. was well worth striving for. It was productive of a sharply contesteel finish in which Pastoral Swain prevailetl over Prince Regent by the narrow margin of a half length, with Lady Myra at the latters throatlatch. There were some other hot finishes, but in respect to the class of horses furnishing the days entertainment, it was decideelly an off elay for Pimlico. J. S. Cosdens Musty, making his first start this year, was an easy winner of the Mount Washington Steeplechase from Shoal, while Lollipop was third. The winner was ridden by Kennedy and outrunning and outjumping his oppements dominated the running throughout. Lollipop in the seconel turn of the field miveel up menacingly, but blundered at several of the jumps, finally tiring to give way to Shoal on the flat near the end. The latter was running fast when too late. Boss John anel Loyterer jumpeel well until they both tired. Locarno fell at the third fence and his rider. A. Ferguson, suffered when he was struek by the hoofs of Vox Pe puli II. He was removed to the hospital in an unconscious condition. EASY FOR FLYING FIR. W. J. Salmons Flying Fur was an easy winner of the opening race, a dash of live-eighths for two-year-olel fillies. Julia M. raced to second place, while Wood Lady, from the Nevada Stock Farm, was a gooel third. Flying Fur was ridden by Bell and was outpaced in the early running, but came pas the leaders on the stretch turn and, finishing fast, won by a wide margin. Wood Iady, Viola Burton anel Myrtle Bilson made the early running and of the lot Wood Lady hung on best, but readily fell a victim to the winners challenge. Julia M., after being away slowly, made a fast finish, but dd not menace the winner. Flying Fur was a pro~ nounceel choice in the wagering. John Farrell, Jr.s, Tony Sue accounted for the spoils of the Chesapeake Handicap, which was uneler claiming conelitions for three-year-olds and over. He hael a narrow margin of a nose better than Charles J. Craigmile. while Tielings was third. The winner made the running from the start and just lasted long enough to win from Charles J. Craigmile. The latter was shuffled back at the start, but worked his way up on the outside and. finishing fast next to the inner rail, woulel have won in another stride. Tidings finished a good third. G. C. Winfreys Pastoral Swain was a game winner of the Arlington Claiming Handicap at a mile and a sixteenthe from Prince Regent, while Lady Myra was third. It was a stirring finish between the three, but the older horse stuck to his work gallantly and was increasing Ins small advantage at the end. Wellfinder was out in front appearing like an easy winner to the stretch turn, then appeared to lose interest and fell back badly beaten.
