SATELLITE A VICTOR From Start to Finish in Jamaicas Principal Race. Red Legs Takes His Race Without Much Trouble Bracadale Is; Given Hard Battle by Ladkin, NEW YORK, N. T., Oct. 5. The Brunswick Handicap, a claiming race at a mile and seventy yards was the carded feature at Jamaica today. It proved hardly mere than an exercise canter for the Rancocas Stables Satellite, which was in front all the way to win easily by a length and a half from A. J. Contentos Miss Cerina, with Jacqueline Julian in third place. Five good platers faced the starter in the race. Fator took advantage of his inside position at the post to send Satellite away into the lead while going to the first turn and increased his advantage steadily under restraint while going down the back-stretch. Miss Cerina was racing gamely in closest pursuit, but Jacqueline Julian was pressing her closely. Lavine made several attempts to slip through on the inside with Jacqueline Julian on the backstretch, but he was cut off each time. While rounding the stretch turn he brought the MacManus filly through and took second place. Miss Cerina was not through, however, and Burns brought her up again in the last sixteenth to take second place by a head from Jacqueline Julian. Fator continued to sit still on Satellite to the finish and the Ogden gelding, although he lost some of the long lead that had been his on the backstretch, won comfortably enough by a length and a half. Miss Cerina was unable to threaten him seriously. Olynthus and High Prince were never effectively in the running. FINE WEATHER PREVAILS. Fine weather brought out a fairly gocd Friday crowd in spite of the poor quality of the card. J. A. Coburns Red Legs, after leading all the way, won the second race from L. Blumes Oran, with Trite in third place. This race was at a mile and a sixteenth for selling platers. Lavine was alert at tho barrier and sent Red Legs away in front. Beginning from an inside position, the Co-burn plater led to the first turn and Lavir.e allowed him to race right along until he was four lengths clear early in the racing down the backstretch. Oran and Trite were racing closely lapped behind the leader until Oran disposed of his rival when approaching the last turn and raced in pursuit of Red Less. Under severe riding Oran gained steadily on Red Legs, but Lavine rode the latter sharply and managed to keep him going long enough to win by a length and a half. Oran held second place safe by two lengths and Trite had no opposition for third money. Anterior, the only other starter, was badly outrun all the way. The Rancocas Stables Bracadale completed a double for L. Fatoi and for his owner by winning tho fifth race, a dash for two-year-olds at five and a half furlongs. August Belmonts Ladkin was second anil his stable-mate, Ordinance, third. Bracadale started out at a great pace to make a runaway affair of the race. Fator rushed him into a long lead in the backstretch, while Ladkin and Flax were racing along in closest pursuit. Then on the last turn Kummer made his move with Ladkin. The Belmont colt shot forward with a burst of speed that threatened for a moment to carry him quickly into the lead. Fator went to the whip on Bracadale, however, and came into the stretch still a length to the good. From this point to the finish it was a nip-and-tuck battle. Bracadale was tiring from his early fast pace-making, and Ladkin was steadily wearing, him down. But the distance was not Continued on sixteenth page. In the last sixteenth he was drawing up rapidly on the Bancocas colt, but Fator kept Braca-dale going long enough to win by a head. Ladkin beat his stablematc by eight lengths for second place and the others were well strung out. The race was run in 1:05. Tom McTaggart brought George Willing, Jr.s, Drumbeat home an easy winner of the third race, a dash of five and a half furlongs for selling plater two-year-olds. R. T. Wilsons Forest Flower got up to take sesond place from Baby Lane. The first race was a five and a half furlong sprint for two-year-old maidens. Ten youngsters faced the starter and were an unruly band. T. Calcinas Pedestrian threw jockey Beach twice before the boy finally gave up the struggle.
