AMERICAN DEFENDERS FINE RECORD Zev, the three-year-old son of The Finn Miss Kearney, chosen as the -American defender in the International race, to be run at Belmont Park Saturday, October 20, possesses all the requisites of a great race horse speed, stamina and weight carrying ability his exceptionally fine record bearing striking testimonial thereto. This sterling colt, which is owned by the Rancocas Stable and trained by S. C. Hildreth, has already won 74,913 in stakes and purses and has a grand opportunity to displace Man o War as the greatest money winner on the American turf. Zev started twelve times as a two-year-old and was unplaced but once, being successful in five races, including victories in the Grand Union Hotel Stakes and Albany Handicap at Saratoga. He finished second in the Futurity and third in the Hopeful Stakes. It was not until this year, however, that Zev earned for himself a foremost place in the ranks of American thoroughbreds. He began his three-year-old career with a victory in the Paumonok Handicap. Then came his only defeat in eight starts when he finished unplaced in the Preakness Stakes, a stain on his record which he wiped out by smashing successes in the Kentucky Derby, Withers and Belmont Stakes and the Lawrence Realization.
