AQUITANIA OFFERS BAND Papyrus Assured of British Music on Day of His Big Test Liners Crew to Witness Race. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct 9. It is doubtful whether Papyrus has a more devoted following anywhere than among the officers and crew of the big Cunarder Aquitania, on which the Epsom Derby winner recently made the trip to this country. From Sir James Charles, the captain of the Aquitania, down to the pantry boys, the Cunard forces are rooting for the victory of Papyrus on Oct 20. It was this spirit that prompted the members of the ships band, a fine organization of twenty-five pieces headed by chief steward Jones, to offer their services to the Westchester Racing Association on the day of the race. The Aquitania band has earned an enviable reputation for its music and its playing will be an enjoyable novelty of an already notable occasion. In return for the courtesy the Westchester management will make a donation to be divided between the British Seamans Fund and the Sailors Snug Harbor. The Aquitania band will play in addition to the usual musical program offered by the Westchester Racing Association. The officers of the Aquitania, in common with those who have met him since his arrival here, have taken a great liking to Basil Jarvis, the trainer of Papyrus. They made his trip across most enjoyable and he and Dr. Pride-Jones were entertained at dinner by them at the Biltmore hotel fhe night before the liner left for Southampton. The fact that the Aquitania will be in New York on Oct. 20 guarantees a loyal bunch of British sympathizers, as, everybody connected with the ship with shore leave is planning to see the race. Applications for seats are pouring in from abroad, as well as from all parts of this country.
