ZEV GALLOPS FAST. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct 10. Sam Hildreth gave Zev a useful sort of a move in his preparation for the International match this morning when he sent him along for a mile and a quarter in 2:05. This was in marked contrast to the "trial" of Papyrus Tuesday morning and there were those who thought the comparison meant much, but as a matter of fact it means very little, for the training methods of Sam Hildreth and Basil Jarvis are vastly different. The move of the son of The Finn and Miss Kearney was a most satisfying one and with Little Chief for "a running mate he did what he was asked handily enough to suggest that he is already ready for the additional quarter of the big match. The first quarter was covered in 23, the half in 47, three-quarters in 1:12, mile in 1:39, mile and an eighth in 1:52 and the mile and a quarter in 2 :0G. At the end of the work Little Chief was being ridden hard, while Zev had plenty in reserve. It would seem now that Zev is ready for a mile and a half at almost any .time anl it is expected that Hildreth will send him over the full distance of the match before many days.
