EPINARD DECLARED OUT French Star Scratched From Lincolnshire Handicap, First Big Feature of English Racing. SPECIAL CABLE. LONDON. England, Feb. 28. Pierre Wertheimers Epinard, recognized in England and France as the greatest horse now lacing anywhere, was declared out of the Lincolnshire Handicap Wednesday. The French crack had been assigned 110 pounds for the Lincolnshire, which is the first stake event of the English season, and it was generally considered certain when the weights were announced that trainer Eugene Leigh would withdraw the colt. The ground at the various English "training centers is still frozen hard and training operations are at a standstill. Reports from France to the effect that Captain J. D. Gohns Sir Galahad III. is well along in his training have influenced the future prices materially. This French colt is now favorite, at 100 to 12, for the Lincolnshire. Jarvie is second choice, at 100 to 7. Soval is quoted at 100 to G and Pondoland at 20 j to 1.
