PROBABLE SPECIAL RACE Efforts Made to Bring Together Sarazen and Wise Counsellor. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August IS. Rumors Avere rife this morning of a special three-quarters sweepstakes to bring Mrs. Vanderbilts Sarazen and John Wards Wise Counsellor together. It had come to a stage Avhere there Avas a Airtual agreement into the camps to bringing the swift running three-year-olds together, but the hitch came OAer the conditions. On behalf of Wise Counsellor it Avas required that the track be fast. In making this condition it AAas contended that Avhile Wise Counsellor can run in the mud, there Avas a fear that a race through such going might knock the colt out for his Labor Day meeting Avith Epinard at Belmont Park. It Avas on this point that the proposed meeting fell through but it is possible that at some future date the two may be brought together, possibly, after Wise Counsellor has fulfilled his engagement Avith Epinard.
