EPINARD AT "SLOW SPEED" SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 18. Epinard had it easy this morning as the track was a little heavier than L"eigh cared to send him over at speed. The French colt had a good exercise gallop at what the English call "slow speed" and went back to his quarters looking in fine fettle. If the going is fair in the morning he will be sent along for five-eighths or so. Many of the best horsemen at the course now are of the opinion that it will take but a little more work to make the invader ready for his first race at Belmont Park on Labor Day, Monday, September 1. The finishing touches will probably be at Belmont Park as Leigh has made arrangements to ship to the Westchester course on August 26. Ho will probably have as traveling companions Ordinance and Ladkin of the Belmont Stable, with which he made the trip from Belmont Park, to this place during the closing days of July.
