HA WTHORNE News and Gossip of the Day at Chicagos Famous Track HAWTHORNE RACE TRACK, Aug. IS. Harned Brothers and Jones haA-e sold on private terms to S. W. Richards, the two-year-old maiden, Special. The Roll Call came out of Saturdays race with a ruptured suspensory ligament and Avill be out df racing for some time. Trainer Sharley Wilson in charge of the T. II. Cross horses arrived from Columbus, Ohio. Most of the horses are from Mr. Cross stock farm in the center of the state. T. T. Mott of CheA-y Chase Maryland, owner of Jewel V. D., and Attilia, arriAed in the city and took over the horses from Phil Reuter. He has taken out a trainers license and Avill look after the horses personally in the future. The halter men were active in the second race, three of the starters changing ownership. Gee Avas claimed by L. J. BroAvn at a cost of ,500. The same price secured Glentilt for M. Shapoff and the latter owner lost. Miss Fortune at the same price to E. E. Major. Shapoff claimed Dorius in the final race for ,500. His own representatia. Hoy, beat him home by a nose.
