MARLBORO MEETING PLANS James F. OHara Arranging Program Featuring Long Distance Races and Increased Purses. BALTIMORE, Md., Sept 3. Marylands fall racing season, which began September 1 with five days sport at Timonium, will be followed by another five-day meeting at Marlboro, opening September 9. The little Southern Maryland course has always been a favorite with horsemen and the public, and its meetings have enjoyed a generous patronage from both Baltimore and Washington racegoers. It is an excellent course and is fast and safe, with a chute to help out in the shorter races. The racing features this year will be more attractive than in the past. Manager James F. OHara, the moving spirit at Bowie, will be in charge of this department of the associations meeting, and he has provided a sparkling program for both horsemen and the public. . The books just issued call for seven races a day and the conditions, while giving owners a chance for good money, also afford first-class sport for patrons. Purses will range in size from 00 to 51,000. Three 00 and one 00 purse will be given each day. Long-distance events will be featured and half of the daily programs will be made up of races at a mile or more. A two-year-old race will start each days sport The prospects are favorable for an abundant supply of good racing timber. Coming directly after Timonium, and just before Havre do Grace, the meeting should have a superior class of entries and the daily cards will undoubtedly attract big fields. Applications for stable room are coming in every day, and they indicate that a capable lot of thoroughbreds will be on hand for the opening. .
