April 2— A mile and a sixteenth allowance affair, which had for contestants many of the horses which were principal ligu-es in last Sundays 0,000 i Coffroth Handicap, furnished the outstanding | attraction on the Tijuana Jockey Clubs pro- i fjram this afternoon. As a secondary fea- | ture. a three-quarters mile dash, which called ; together some of the best sprinters at the course, was run as the fifth race, preceding | the handicap. Cherry Pie. holder of the one mile American time record, was the victor in the feature, the veteran Dr. Clark being a good second, while All Over finished third. This victory was the second scored by Cherry Pie at Tijuana. He has been started four times in all and has been returned winner twice. Swingalong demonstrated that he has lost none of his speed when he defeated some of the best sprinters quartered at Tijuana over the three-quarters mile route in the secondary attraction, run as the fifth race. Hooper rated Swingalong back of the pacemakers to the stretch turn, where he rushed him past Buster Keaten when they straightened out. and he won easily. Buster Keaton raced Otarer into submission in the early stages and then hung on resolutely to the end. Girl Scout moved up fast entering the stretch, but was shut off when Swingalong passed Buster Keaton. and lost at least two lengths. She showed a game effort thereafter, but could not make up the lost ground. Damar. racing in the colors of Graham and Donnelly, surprised at long odds in the second race, a five and a half furlongs dash. Another feature of this race was the unexpected good effort by Love Song, which finished third and paid better than 33 to 1 to show in the mutuels. Damar sprinted his way to the front leaving the back streeh and took a winning lead on the upper turn and easily held sway to the end. Acquitted began fast on the outride and was a* all times the strongest contender. She came wide into the stretch and fast outstayed Love Song. Love Song made up ground steadily in the last eighth. Little Tokalon was carried wide when entering the stretch, but hung on resolutely. The Maconiber French-bred filly. Ktoile du Quesnay. second choice in the two-year-old openinp rac: proved to be best and spread-eagled her opponents to win by eght lengths. Minnie Bomba. on the other hand, was pushed to the limit to outstay Brevet for second, just beating the latter by a head at the finish. Ktoile du Quesnay promptly went into a lonfj lead at the start and won as she pleased. Minnie Bomba also began fast and racd in nearest pursuit of the pace-maker, but was tiring fast in the final eighth. Brevet could not keep up in the run around the turn but got through entering the stretch and finished fast. The third race resulted in an easy victory for Rudolph Spreckels Alleviator. He was slow to get into his stride, but. once running smoothly, he easily raced by his opponents and won under restraint. Shasta Springs proved best of the remainder and finished second. Guinea Girl, after setting the early pace, tired badly in the final drive. Lot of Style had a rough race, but finished well. Lake hapala attempted to get through on the inside at the paddock, but was forced back and had to go to the outside. «
