t t i i j i j JOSEPH MARRONE IS DEAD Owner of Marrone Stable Succumbs to Pneumonia After Short Illness at His Home. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 27.— Joseph Marrone, owner of the Marrone stable, who died Friday at his home, 121 St Nicholas Avenue, after a short illness from pneumonia, was buried today. A visit to Jamaica, where his horses are quartered, just a week ago is blamed for his death as he contracted a cold on that occasion which quickly developed into pneumonia-Mr. Marrone was born in Naples, Italy, j sixty-six years ago. He came to this country in his youth and gradually amassed a I fortune in the contracting business. He was connected with racing as an owner , for a considerable period before he became interested in the breeding end of the sport. During rtcent years he bred a large proportion of the horses which carried his colors. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Marrone, and by three daughters. • 1
