WORK OF BEAUTIFICATION NEW YORK. N. Y., April 1.— Improvements in progress at the Turf and Field Club include many changes in the grounds surrounding the clubhouse. The work is being done according to plans prepared by Wad-ley and Smyth, landscape architects, who directed the renovation of the track at Saratoga Springs that has made the racing resort one of the most beautiful in the world. The changes are being made in the walks leading from the Turf and Field Club to the Belmont Park paddock and grandstand and there will be a new approach to the formal gardens. Many additional shrubs and plants have been set out and the old mansion has been repainted and restored to its original lines. Visitors to the club on the days racing is held under the auspices of the United Hunts will hardly recognize tl»- place. The changes have been made in excellent taste. ♦ .
