Bradley Expected to Arrive at Idle Hour Farm About April 16 — Headley Horses Reach Lexington. • LEXINGTON, Ky.. April 1.— Mr. Kirkwood showed a liking for the muddy going at the Kentucky Association course this morning when he galloped three-quarters of a mile in 1 :23%. This is J. C. Milams candidate for the Kentucky Derby and the work watchers were impressed by his performance. Rolled Stocking and Bonaire, Derby eli-gibles in the string of C. C. Van Meter, ran three-quarters in 1 :26%, the latter being a second back of that time. Mary Jane — half sister to Chilhowee and Menifee — candidate for the Kentucky Oaks, galloped three-quarters in 1 :24. She is owned by S. S. Combs and A. B. Gallaher. Hal Price Headleys string of eighteen horses arrived at the Kentucky Association track this morning. Ten were sent in from Beaumont Farm and the others came from New Orleans. They are in charge of Walter Taylor. Colonel and Mrs. Robert R. McCormick, accompanied by several friends, including Captain Dimitrie Ivanenko, departed for their homes in Chicago via motor this afternoon after having spent the night and morning en route from Aiken, S. C. They visited a number of important breeding establishments and saw much that pleased and impressed them. They also were at the race course early this morning. Robert McGarvey is training for Stuyves-ant Peabody and John Hertz. Col. E. R. Bradley will leave Palm Beach, Fla., April 9. He will stop off at New Orleans, La., and arrive at Idle Hour Farm, April 16 or 17. Boo and other horses now in training at New Orleans, under the care of William Hurley, are expected to arrive at the Kentucky Association course about the same time. The string in charge of trainer Dick Thompson, will remain at the farm until time to ship to Churchill Downs. C. B. Shaffer, master of Coldstream Stud, who has been on a trip around the world, is leaving the boat at San Francisco today and is expected in Lexington to see his horses during the coming week. It is expected also, that while he is in Kentucky, lie will go with Raeeland officials for an inspection of the plant near Ashland, he being one of the principal stockholders. Manager J. O. Keene. said today, that plans are going forward for an excellent meeting at Raeeland this year, opening on July 9, and continuing to August G. -_a —
