MRS. A. SWENKE JUBILANT BOWIE. Md.. April 1.— Mrs. A. Swenke was jubilant over the arrival at W. J. De-moss Gittings. Md.. farm on Thursday, of a chestnut filly foal by Gonfalon— Dress Goods, a mare which she retired after a successful racing career. •Sergeant* Swenke. her husband, bought Gonfalon from Harry Payne Whitney a few years ago when the son of Pennant— Bonnie Broom was a cripple, and decided to take advantage of his rich blood lines when it was found impossible to return him to the races. Mrs. Swenke also owns two others of his foals which arrived this year. One is a chestnut filly from Ebony Belle and the other a chestnut colt from Sea Tag. All inherit the color of their sire, a horse highly regarded by James Rowe when he carried the Whitney silks in stake company as a juvenile. The smart appearances of the three foals has prompted several other horsemen to make bookings for Gonfalons services for their mares. •
