Kelly Regarded Favorably. ■ p LOUISVILLE, Ky.. April 9— Trainer Danny Miller of tit • .1. .1. Coughlin stable, will know in a couple of days whether it will be necessary to perform an operation on Wacker Drive, one of the stables Derby canu.uates. for a slight wind affection. Dr. Finch, a tl specialist in that line, is in Xew York at fc is present, but will be here in a few days to o make an inspection of the col*s t. .-oa*. An and operation on the winner of the Breeders Fu- l turity would halt his training for the Derby t! ana undoubtedly eliminate him as a factor in tl the race. - a Paternal, anotner of the Coughlin stables a Derby eligibles, is out of the race, due to a wrenched right front ankle, which injury he d sustained when he stepped in a hole while v being galloped at Douglas Park about ten and days ago. The defection of Wacker Drive and Paternal would leave the sta.de with t D. F. Kelly, Two Dans and an Burnham ri as its remaining Derby eligibles. Of this t trio D. F. Kelly, vhich did not face the | barrier as a two-year-old, is regarded with fc the most favor and is easily the best of all 1, of the stables eligibles including Wacker C Drive. D. F. Kelly, a son of the Kentucky a Derby winner .-mar Khayyam, from Maidens s Ballet, has outworked everything in the Coughlin barn this season, and is regarded o with high favor by the stable attaches. His t training has been most satisfactory. t Dan Burnham, given every opportunity to t display his worth during the winter campaign at Xew Orleans, failed dismally to i live up to expectations and has long since c ceased to be seriously regarded as a Derby I aspirant. Two Dans, the remaining Derby i eligible, has show: - promise and will be a called upon to show just how good a three-year-old he is when he starts at the Lex- r ington meeting. This big son of Pataud and I Malona will be the stables only iJerby colt t to be raced at the track of the Kentucky As- i sociation. Together with the older horses 1 Ida Oday and Winifred, an sis of the sta- c bles two-year-olds, he will be sent to Lex- i ington the first of next week. Th - sta - has secured stalls in J. X. Camdens barn J at the Rexington track. i * t
