FEWER PASSES THIS YEAR Director of Agriculture Asks the Illinois Tracks to See That the Privilege Is Not Abused. AURORA. 111., April 21. — It is going to be harder to get badges to the race tracks in Illinois this year than ever before. This is the deduction to be made from a communication received today by Clifford R. Trimble, manager of the Aurora race track, from Still-man J. Stanard, director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Calling attention to the fact that the Illinois racing law provides that 20 cents on each paid admission must be set aside for the state. Director Stanard stressed the spirit of this law and cautioned against the issuance of unnecessary free passes. Commenting upon the letter, Mr. Trimble said : "We will cut our badge lists this year to the bone. It will be absolutely useless for anyone to apply for a badge who does not have one coming to him. Hell be just wasting his time." Dr. L. M. Holmes today unloaded fourteen horses at Exposition Park, where they will race in the name of Mrs. L. M. Holmes. The band came from New Orleans. Following is the list : Arabian, Ali Baba, Forward Pass, Hec, Waponoca. Secrecy, Old Bill, Rival, Eager. Eddie Curtis. Guys Image, Mac Fogle, Portal and Magnolia. The last four are two-year-olds. Dr. Holmes is bringing two other horses from Lexington. Eddie Thomas began schooling this morning, a half-hour being given to two-year-olds, and an hour to older horses. The rider most often mentioned as probable leader of the jockeys at the coming Aurora meeting is Charlie Allen. This is the boy who rode Jack Higgins to victory in the Louisiana Derby a month ago. He is under contract to O. L. Foster. Tommy Luther, who led all the riders at the Tijuana track will be here to ride for Stewart Folk, who is en route from Tijuana now with a carload of horses. Bobbie Jones, the Tijuana track, will be here to ride for here. Then there is Phil Rennie, who finished second to Luther at Tijuana. He is here with Bert Jones, who trains the horses of G. Drumheller. George Wolfe Is another Tijuana star. He is under contract to "Whitey" Whitehill.
