FIRE OPAL was outpaced in the early ninniug. but worked his way to the leaders and, coming fast through the stretch, won in the last stride. FARCEUR, away fast, set a good pace and rai ed well after drawing away from Slit P.AUI.EY. The latter moved up fast after rounding the far turn, but tired in the final drive. PLEASANT SMILES had to be lard ridden all the way. but tired at the end. ROONEY ran fairly well. CARE FREE would not start, but closed a big gap after being left at the post.
