J it ■ of jj J t P. p I : A rnther good mid-week card has been arrange for today, with a handicap over the and a half furlongs distance the feature attraction. This is to be run as the fifth number and brings out a field of seven, with Conquistado , Sixty, Orestes II., Pat and d Meriwick among those named to start. At this should be weight arrangements is jc closely contested sprint, but all indications J to a win for Conquistador. q The sixth race, over the mile distance. Is * another number which should result in a _ contest. A good field of platers is j_ entered here, including Prince Tii Tii, which races for the Jones Stock Farm Stable. The n latter appears to be the best betting proposition on the card. Cup o Tea and The Orleanian figure as the most likely contenders. Q Two-year-olds are to show their wares r the four and a half furlongs distance in third offering. The recent winner Coal _ Black is tabbed to prove a repeater in land- this purse. in ■ ISABELLA— QUICK ASSET— AMBITIOUS, a f A cheap band of maiden three-year-olds j hook up in the opening race. We are select- f ISABELLA as the one to get out of the t non-winners ranks. Her first race at this x track was a good third to No Effort. She but to show a slight improvement over c that effort to land the major portion of this r purse. QUICK ASSET also raced well the j other day and, taking a line on that race, , figures to be the most probable contender f the field. AMBITIOUS can do better than j last race would indicate, for she was as s good as left at the post. We look for her to redeem herself by turning in a good effort here to account for the show money. BALL GEE— J. G. DENNY— SUPERFRANK. The band of platers which is entered in I second race figure rather close together, with T. E. Crists BALL GEE getting the 1 call as the possible winner. He has been knocking at the door in his last two starts over this track, finishing sscond on both oc- casions. He will take plenty of beating here, he gets in under a rather light impost today. J. G. DENNY has been showing some his old-time speed in his morning workouts and, should he be ready for a race in his best form, will be dangerous all the way. SUPERFRANK seems the best of the rest of the field. His usual gooc effort should land him among the pay-off horses. COAL BLACK— PAUL BUNYAN— SENTRY LASS. Eight two-year-olds will match strides over the four and a half furlongs distance, under allowance conditions, in the third race. COAL BLACK, which proved such a good winner in his first start, is picked to repeat here. The I gelding needs but to race back to that last effort to score again. PAUL BUNYAN has I some good races to his credit during his cam- pnign over the New Orleans tracks the past : winter. He may prove a dangerous sort, , should he be in a running mood today. SEN- TRY LASS raced la improved form the last time out and, on that race, figures best of the rest of the field for the short end of the purse. d is jc J q * _ j_ n Q r _ ■ in a f j f t x c r j , f j s I 1 I I : , SECRECY— EOREBEC— BRAZEN. The filly SECRECY may be the one to account for the major portion of the fourth race. She beat about the same class of racers in her last start that will oppose her today and a repetition of that effort should find her out in front again when the finish reached. FOREBEC and BRAZEN figure as the most dangerous ones that SECRECY will have to beat to make her victory certain. The first named gets the preference for the place end of the purse. BRAZEN should prove dangerous company, too, for he is meeting horses of his own class here. CONQUISTADOR— PAT— SIXTY. In the feature race we are selecting CONQUISTADOR to prove best. The Runnymede colt is more than due for a winning effort and prospects look bright- for him accomplishing the trick today. He should have benefited from his two races here to date, which he landed close up on both occasions and, w.ith his favorable impost today, we look for him to land in front of his opponents. PAT failed to run his usual race in his first start here, but he may have needed that race. The Drumheller gelding is somewhat better than rated and should prove it by landing the place end of the coin here. SIXTY may prove a real danger, for he raced fairly well at Lexington and is not far from best form. If in a running mood, he may upset the calculations. We do not look for ORESTES II. to prove a repeater. He is due to hit the rut again for ten or twelve starts. PRINCE TII TII— CUP O TKA— THE ORLEANIAN. PRINCE TII TII apears much the best of the band that is entered in the sixth contest. This gelding is one of the best racers of the plater division and he accounts lor more than his share of purses. He is asked to carry top weight today but we doubt if this will stop him from winning, for he has demonstrated that he can carry weight and still win. CUP O TEA may be the one to finish in back of PRINCE TII TII. The mare is in good form and a race at her best today should find her among the leaders at the finish. THE ORLEAXIAN, on his last good race behind Jennifer, is given the call for the show money. DUNBE ATH— A R RA 6 OS A — JIM DAHLMAN. The good-night number engages an evenly matched band of platers to race over the mile and a sixteenth distance, and picking the winner here is not so easy. DUXBI3ATH has been given plenty of racing of late and may be good enough to account for this purse. At any rate, he figures as high as any of the other starters and only has to show his best form to land this purse. ARRAGOSA pos- sibly needed his first start here and we ex- pect him to land closer up today. He usually holds his own in races of this kind and should ?et some part of the coin. JIM DAHLMAN, with a second and a close-up fourth to his ?redit in his two starts here, rates as slightly he best of the others.
