PIMLICO SPRING MEETING — ■ ■ • Results in Distribution of 54,-450 Among Winning Owners. Daily Averaprc of S23, 131.82— Victorian reads Hordes, WM 0,000 in Earnings— H. r. Whitney Loads Owners. Pimlicos brilliant spring meeting: ended Saturday, May 12, after eleven days of higli-class racing. Legirmiiifr May 1, soventy-seven races were decided at the old hilltop course, 54,450 in money distributed among winning owners, a daily average of 3,-131. S2, and ten stake races, almost one for each day of the meeting, were decided before crowds larger than ever before in the history of the track. The ten stake races included the Preakness Stakes, Dixie Handicap and Pimlico Spring Handicap, three valuable and coveted races. Victory in the Preakness Stakes is usually enough to assure the owner of the winner first place in the money-winning owners list. Such was the case this year when H. P. Whitney provided the winner in Victorian, brother to Whiskery, the same owners Kentucky Derby winner of last year. Bostonian carried the Whitney colors to victory in the Preakness Staks in 1927. Hal Price Headley was next to H. P. Whitney as the greatest money winner, by virtue of Mike Halls triumph in the Dixie Handicap, worth 4,-975 to the winner, that sum representing the exact total of Mr. Headleys winnings during the meeting. Money-winning honors among the horses fell naturally to Victorian, with his total of 0,000. Mike Hall was next with 4,975. Then came Princess Tina with ,750, earned through victory in the Pimlico Oaks and Jennings Handicap ; Canter with ,C!0, the fruits of a triumph in the Pimlico Spring Handicap, and Dunkirk, Juvenile Handicap winner, with ?7,220. Max Hirsch saddled five winners for first place among the trainers. P. M. Burch, Scott Harlan and E Trueman finished in a tie for second place, with four winners each. J. C. Mergler was the hading jockey with six winners. J. Craigmyle and F. Stevens riding five winners each, and E. Barnes, IT. Little, S. ODonnell, K. reternel and A. Robertson four each.
