HANK MONK WINS AGAIN Star Master Horse Repeats in Best Race at Hamilton, Ohio, Course — Young April Scores. HAMILTON, Ohio, May 16.— G. R. Allens Hank Monk scored his second success of the meeting when he captured the sixth race, which attracted the best field at the Fair Grounds track this afternoon. The Star Master horse followed the pace of Cyclamen for three-quarters, then forged to the front and drew away into a omfortable lead in the stretch. In a driving finish, Salvage came again and headed Hardman in the last few yards for second place. The latter, in turn, just lasted to stall off Irish Ruins for the show honors. Irish Ruins came with a brilliant rush on the outside in the stretch and would have been second in a couple of more strides. Although the weather outlook about race time was none too inviting, an unexpectedly large crowd journeyed to the course. The light rain of this morning served to lay the dust nicely, the going not being effected. Notwithstanding the fact that the card was given over to horses of the plater variety, the racing was decidedly interesting. One of the best finishes of the day came with the running of the third race, in which C. W. McKays Jasonette got up in the final strides to head Manipulator, the pacemaker, after a thrilling stretch drive. Undergrowth was a bang-up third after having saved ground all the way. Another nerve-wracking finish marked the opening race, in which Young April, after leading most of the race, was awarded a close verdict over the fast-finishing Bonsky. Jane Elizabeth was a bang-up third after racing forwardly throughout. When Stella May carried The French Girl extremely wide while on the first turn in the second race, it enabled Jack OLeen to open up a winning lead that The French Girl was unable to overcome, although she made a gallant effort in the stretch and was a good second. After the veteran Dr. Hickman showed signs of tiring at the end of the first half-mile of the fourth race, Black Cyclone took up the running and held the others safe in the final eighth. Nervous Abie came from behind to down Kendall for second. El Astro assumed command when the start came for the fifth race, and he was never in serious trouble. Jockey R. Zucchini, on Richelieu, deliberately shut off Mabel Seth when she attempted to come through on the inside midway of the stretch, which made it possible for Richelieu to save second place. At no stage of the final race was Sound seriously threatened. Payman was second and Spring came from far back to be third. R. F. Coppage was an arrival today from his home in Carruthersville, Mo., where he went at the close of the Columbus, Ohio, meeting. Arrangements have been completed to give a description of the running of the Kentucky Derby here on Saturday.
