At Aurora One Best Bet — HERO — In the Sixth Race. Thursdays program at the Aurora track is turned over to the lower class of horses, platers making up the field in all of the races. The recent rains left the track in a muddy condition and only the horses that have shown ability to run in the going will be likely to score. There is no feature race on the card, but the sixth race brings to the post what appears as the best field of the day. The good mud-runner Hero seems to be placed in a soft spot and, with his light impost, should be able to take the measure of this band in proving the easiest winner of the day. The fourth race brings to the post a band of maiden two-year-olds, for a contest over the five-eighths distance. Leading Lady gets the call to get out of the maiden ranks, but she may meet tough opposition from Odd Bet and Donna Marie, for these two are not far off from winning form. BIACHETH— MONDAY MORMNG— TICKER. In the first race we are selecting MACBETH to prove best. The geldings first start over this traek was an easy win over about the same class of platers which will oppose him today. We look for him to repeat that last effort, for he raced at his best in the going. MONDAY MORNING is another that takes a liking to the muddy track and, for this reason, we look for him to be the one to follow MACBETH to the wire. TICKER should be able to race well enough to hold the short end of the purse safe from the rest of the field, but he may be hard pressed by MARY CONNORS and MEDIATOR JR. MONASTERY— SCOOP— CREST WOOD BOY. For the winner of the second race we are picking the Joliet Stables MONASTERY. The old gelding is due for a winning effort and, with the track to his liking today, we think he can take the measure of this field, if he races in his true style. He may meet stiff opposition from SCOOP, for this English-bred racer also has shown ability to race at his best when the track is other than fast. We doubt, however, if he can turn the tables on MONASTERY today, but he should prove a strong contender for the place end of the purse. Taking a line on CRESTWOOD BOYS races at Havana the past winter, he will have to be given the call to be among the pay-off horses in this contest. COL. FALLON— BURK-D ALE— LITTLE It I MM Y. Nine three-year-old maidens will make up the field in the third number, which calls for a contest over the three-quarters distance. COL. FALLON, on his last good effort, gets the call as the probable one to get out of the non-winners ranks. He need but to show a slight improvement over his last race to take this cheap band into camp. BURK-DALE should be able to get in the money here, for in his last race he showed enough speed to warrant him a good chance with this kind of company. The short end of the purse may be accounted for by any of the rest of the field, but we give the call to LITTLE RUMMY on his good workouts of late. LEADING LADY— ODD BET— DONNA MARIE. The fourth number is also a maiden race, but this field will be made up of two-year-olds. B. Creechs LEADING LADY looks the best of the twelve entered, for she finished in the money in both of her starts over this track. Her last effort was a good third over a slow track and, as she showed she likes a track other than fast, we look for her to be the one to account for the major portion of the purse today. ODD BET figures next best for, taking a line on his Lexington races in the going, he should be at home over the track today. DONNA MARIE may give him a tussle for the place end of the purse, however, for this miss also has shown ability to race in the going, as her best efforts to date have been over a heavy track. SILVER QUEEN— LEVOY— VOLT. J. J. Holtman may have the winner of the fifth race in SILVER QUEEN. The mares last two races at Jefferson Park were good wins over a heavy and a muddy track and, on the form she showed in those efforts, we give her the call to be the one to lead this band to the finish. LEVOY and VOLT figure next best in the order named. LEVOY will take plenty of beating for, when the track is to his liking, he is a hard horse to beat. VOLT should be able to get in the picture, for he is a consistent gelding and he is most generally found fighting it out with the leaders. HERO— THE ORLEANIAN— INDRA. The sixth race brings to the post eight platers from the older division for a contest over the one mile and seventy yards distance. HERO appears much the •best of the band entered, as the track and his light impost figure in his favor. He should have little trouble in getting down in front here. For the place end of the purse we are taking THE. ORLEANIAN. The gelding seems to be rounding into his best form and he needs but to race back to his last effort to get in the money today. INDRA, on her best races in the going, is given the call for the show money. Her light impost should prove a big help to her in proving a contender. GUNSIGHT— ADIEU— PAULA SHAY. The last race of the day will be decided over the trying one mile and a sixteenth distance. It. Z. Jenkins GUNSIGHT, on his ability to go the distance and also to race xt his best in muddy going, gets the call to be home the winner. He is said to be ready for a winning race, and this looks like a good spot for him to turn the trick. ADIEU may be the one to furnish the most opposition, for she has been racing in improved form of late, finishing in the money in three of her five starts over this track. PAULA SHAY has to be figured as a contender for some part of the purse for, taking a line through her Tijuana races the past winter, he has shown ability to race at her best in the going.
