BUYS VALUABLE FRENCH MARE PARIS, France, May 25.— Among the recent thoroughbred purchases by American sportsmen was that of the mare Titanite, the eleven-year-old bay daughter of Sar-danapale — Saint Astra, by Ladas, with her foal by Transvaal. The purchase was made by George D. Widener of Philadelphia. Titanite was bred by Baron Maurice de Rothschild. She will be bred to Dark Legend and shipped to the United States next fall.
