AURORA TURF NOTES 1 * ยป AURORA, 111., May 25. W. Tobias, represented in the fourth race yesterday by Silver Queen, secured Griego from E. McCown via the claiming route at a cost of ,800. Starter Harry Morrissey was back on the job at Exposition Park today after a brief absence, caused by an attack of la grippe. There was a surplus in the purses for the entries of Saturday. May 26, amounting to 00. The 00 surplus will be added to the purses of the first and second races on Monday, May 28, making the value of each race 00 instead of 00. Two express cars of thoroughbreds left Exposition Park for Fairmount Park, including the horses owned and raced by E. E. Major, while along with Majors horses, were shipped the stable owned by C. D. Pryor. Jockeys J. Cavens, R. Crees and R. Mozer also left for Fairmount Park. The racing colors of Mrs. L. M. Holmes were absent at Aurora today for the first time of the meeting. The Holmes horses were shipped to Fairmount Park Thursday night. Eddie Thomas, one of Mr. Morrisseys assistants at Exposition Park, leaves Saturday for Omaha. He will begin with the schooling of two-year-olds at the Ak-Sar-Ben track on Monday.
