— 1 LADIES DAY AT WINDSOR English Mare Silver Song Triumphs in Handicap — Nellie Wood Second and Grenier Third. WINDSOR, Ont., June IS.— Silver Song, imported daughter of Siller— Singing Brush, which races for Mrs. C. Carrigan, triumphed in the feature at three-quarters, the best offering in the Ladies Day program at the Windsor Jockey Club. Mrs. A. L. Austins Nellie Wood earned the second part of the purse, while Crenier, which races for Mrs. W. J. Giblin and making his initial appearance in Canada this year, was third with the only two remaining starters. Queen Towton and Maurice, finishing as named. Silas was alert the barrier and quickly spirited Nellie Wood away into a good lead, with Grenier racing next and the ultimate winner racing along in third place. At the turn out of the back stretch it was the Austin colorbearer that still held th eheld while Maurice, which had been slow to settle into stride, had moved into contention on the outside. When the stretch was reached Silas took Nellie Wood out into the middle of the track while Silver Song stayed close to the inner rail. Nellie Wood began tiring inside the sixteenth post and Silver Song, finishing with rare gameness, succeeded in wearing her down in the last few strides. Nellie Wood had a length advantage over Grenier, which was coming gamely at the end. Although the heavy rains of the early morning converted the track into a veritable quagmire, another big crowd was on hand. , . — A _ ,
