MISSTEP IN FAST WORKOUT ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111.. June 18. The Le Mar Stock Farms Fairmount Park Derby winner. Misstep, gave a speed exhibition this morning- over the Arlington Park track, when he worked a mile and an eighth in 1 :G3, easing and finished out another eighth to complete a mile and a quarter in 2 :08. The trial was in preparation for his start in the mile and one-half Latonia Derby, to be decided at Latonia next Saturday, and in which he will meet E. B. McLeans redoubtable Toro, victor in the American Derby, Vito, winner of the Belmont Stakes, and other renowned three-year-olds that will comprise the Latonia Derby field. Misstep displayed high speed from the outset in his work today. He went the first quarter in :23%, three-eighths in :3G, half-mile In :49, three-quarters in 1 :14, and the mile in 1 :40. He was well in hand for the entire trip and gave an indication that the mile and one-half distance would not be bothersome. He will be shipped to Latonia Sunday.
