Cottage Grove, the favorite, won the opening race from an ordinary band of two-year-olds. She went to the front at the start and was never headed. Among the other winners on the program were Forbidden, Comealong and Shindy. Beauty Star was claimed by J. M. Hizar for ,200 out of the third race Friday.
