GUEST, a keen factor from the start, was rated close to the leaders, secured racing room on th« inside during the stretch run and, under strong urging, wore AVERSION down to get up at the finish. AVERSION took a brief lead in the early racing and, withstanding challenges from SCCKY. held on gamely in the final drive. SUCKY forced a good pace and made several challenges, but weakened in the final eighth. JOHN W. WEBER raced well. FIRST EDITION made up ground in the last half mile. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third easily. nUFFY, taken under restraint for the first turn of the field, responded well when called on and, saving ground while going to the fences, withstood a drive gamely and outfinished FATIIBALLAH. The latter, made excessive use of in the early running, moved into a good lead after taking four fences and was rated in front and stalled off PRIMED and came again after being displaced at the final jump. WINOYA jumped well and followed within striking distance of the leaders, but could not gain ground during the final stages. PRIMED showed a good effort. BYRON closed a big gap. FACET tired badly. PANUCO, a quick beginner, raced under restraint until well settled in his stride on the back stretch, then opened up a clear lead after rounding the far turn and was shaken up slightly during the final stages to stall off BEAU OF THE WEST. The latter, away fast, was allowed to remain off the pace, then came with a rush when called on and finished resolutely. WILLIAM T.. kept under pressure from the start, was hard ridden and made a determined effort when leaving the back stretch, but tired near the end. WELLET was unable to gain on the leaders. The latter, outrun for the first half mile, finished with a rush. FRENCH LASS, prominent all the way. was tiring fast at the end. GENERAL BULLARD had good early speed, but faltered in the final eighth. THE TARTAR was interfered with and was being eased up near the end when he was cut off. GLACIAL closed fast. TAZEWELL lacked early speed, but worked his way up on the outside ■nd, reaching contention, was unable to make up ground in the final drive. nEDGEFENCE could not reach the leaders under urging. CRECY was never a factor. DUSHKA quit after seven-eighths.
