twASHiNGTON PARK NOTES; $ $ HOMEWOOD, 111., May 25. Trainer William Hurley, who brought Col. E. R. Bradleys string to Washington Park, predicted after his first look at the Home-wood course that Blue Larkspur may prove in the American Derby that he is the master three-year-old "if the Derby is run on a dry track." The colt simply did not fancy the going at Churchill Downs the day of the Kentucky Derby, Hurley said. Blue Larkspur will first go in the Belmont Stakes and trainer Hurley said that the time between the two races would be ample for the colt to be shipped here without endangering his chances in the least. He said trainer Thompson is well on the road to recovery at Louisville and may be able to come here in time to supervise the saddling of Blue Larkspur for the American Derby. More racers representing one of the largest eastern establishments reached Washington Park Saturday. These are the W. R. Coe band, which will probably cut a large figure in Homewood events. They include Igloo, Begorra, Irish, Cheers, Dail, Vanity and Algernon. Tommy Taylor drove his car into the Washington Park course seven hours after leaving Louisville and said he had difficulty in realizing that he was really at Washington Park, so many are the improvements. Mose Low-enstein came in about the same time and expressed amazement. "The track is my idea of art," he said. Trainer Taylor is in charge of the eleven racers of Mrs. E. L. Swikard of Chicago. Mrs. Swikard has Little Rumpus and Bit o Worry nominated for the Debutante Stakes, to be run on Decoration Day. Show Down, a colt, is eligible for the Thomas Curran Memorial. Chip is eligible for the American Derby, but may go first in the Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap, for which Duelist also is eligible. Misstep, one of the favorites for the Washington Park Handicap and other Homewood stakes, apparently shipped in good shape. He is reported in good condition for a busy campaign on all the Chicago tracks. Mose Lowenstein has a large lot of two-year-olds, most of which are in the experi-i mental stage. There are about twenty-five horses at the track in his care. and
