OWL, hard ridden from the start, forced the pace and, racing GO AWAY into defeat, took the lead •n the outside when entering the stretch, but tired in the final drive and just lasted to win. FROSTILLA IIL, outrun to the stretch, came to the outside and, closing a big gap, outfinished tiring horses. MARGARET ELNORA raced close up on the inside, but was in close quarters in the final drive and finished gamely. BETTY BROWNING improved her position gradually while going to the stretch, but tired at the end. GO AWAY showed good early speed, but tired when headed by OWL. Won ridden out: second and third driving. THEO. FAY passed KNIGHTHOOD with ease and. racing into a long lead, made the pace fast to the stretch, but had to be ridden out to keep OSSIE H. safe. OSSIE H. worked her way up slowly on the outside and was gaining on the winner strongly in the final eighth. CLOlD IDOLIZER was hard ridden throughout, closed some ground and outfinished PRICELESS. The latter began slowly, had no mishaps and raced well. FLASHY was outrun. WOODFACE quit. KNIGHTHOOD showed the most early speed, but was done after goinc the first half mile. OLD KICKAPOO raced past THE DOCTOR while holding CHARM safe when rounding the far turn, and, taking a good lead, continued gamely to hold it to the end. SHORT PRICE raced forwardly on the inside, gained strongly in the last three-sixteenths and outgamed CHARM. The latter held «u tenaciously, forcing the pace and made a game finish. FLOOD CONTROL could never threaten the leaders. SIXTY was outpaced and ran poorly. THE DOCTOR showed speed for the first half mile, but Quit completely in the stretch. ISOARD, racing in his best form, improved his position while going the first five-eighths and took the lead easily from OAKLAND when called upon and drew away to win in a canter. JOHN JOHNSON JR., saved for the first thice-quarters, came fast thereafter, then closed up much ground and out finished BLACK BART. The latter was allowed to drop too far back and finished with a belated rush in the fiual three-sixteenths. OAKLAND was done in the stretch after showing the most early speed and quit. ENGADINE set a good pace to the last eighth, was headed by GOLDMARK for a time, but gamely Came again and, wearing down GOLDMARK, got up in the final strides to win. GOLDMARK moved up namely when entering the stretch and, taking the lead from ENGADINE, tired and was outfinished. OJO raced on the inside in close quarters and, being outpaced most of the way, finished resolutely. CATESBY had no mishaps and tired. VERDEVALE and MERRY PAL ran well for the first three-quarters, then tired. Overweight— Merry Pal, 4 pounds. Scratched— 30195 Billy Beer. 116.
