WHISKERY TO RACE HERE Whiskery, five-year-old stallion by Whisk Broom II. — Prudery, by Peter Pan, which won the Kentucky Derby and numerous other stakes for Harry Payne Whitney in 1927, is coming back to the races, after a brief season in the stud at a Kentucky farm. He has been named for the American National Handicap, the feature of the inaugural day at Arlington Park July 1 and three other stakes to be decided during the course of the meeting of twenty-nine days duration. Whiskery is now the property of C. A. Stone, who races under the name of the -Morvcn Stud. Mr. Stone acquired the horse from Mr. Whitney shortly after Whiskery ran his last race, which was at Saratoga August 11 of last year. In that race, which was the Whitney Stakes, Whiskery finished third to Black Maria and Chance Shot. Since his retirement Whiskery has been bred to a few choice mares, but owner Stone is goimr to return him to racing in the strong belief that the five-year-old is still capable of displaying the speed and stamina that characterized his racing in 1927. He is a comparatively young horse, and if he stands up under training he will be shipped to Arlington Park to fill his stake engagements.
