KIA raced BOB JOHNSTON into defeat to rfaio command entering the home stretch, but tired inside the final sixteenth. BOB JOHNSTON set a good pace and held on well. SNAKEBITE finished resolutely. SKID, outrun for the first eighth, displayed keen speed to reach the leaders, withstood a hard drive gamely and outlasted DARK SIMON. The latter moved up fast on the outside of the leaders, finished in determined fashion and was gaining slowly at the end. PLAY BALL, In tight quarters throughout, showed a good race. CIRCUS RIDER, displaying good form and, racing within striking distance of the pacemaker, moved into the lead at the final eighth post and, holding on with rare courage, just lasted to stall off EVERYTIME. The latter, rated along and saving much ground, finished fast when placed under punishment. SARATOGA MAJE showed good speed for five-eighths, but tired when put to a drive, GLACIAL threatened rounding the turn, but tired badly at the end. JEWEL KIT was outrun. BREVET, going well, raced MASTER BOBBIE into defeat and held on well. OPEN HAND closed fast on the inside in the final three-eighths. MASTER BOBBIE tired through the final stages. VERNON raced evenly. REAL ARTiST quit. GALOPIN DIAMOND, outracing his opponents to the first turn, was steadied along in front under slight restraint, shook off early contention and came away when shaken up inside the final eighth. PLAGUER, allowed to drop out of contention on the first turn, secured racing room on the inside approaching the stretch, where he was taken wide and tired near the finish.
