MINOTAUR IN LIMELIGHT Locally Owned Racer Considered Dangerous in American Derby Saturday. Minotaur is one of the several candidates for the American Derby which will sport the colors of a Chicago owner. He was purchased from Charles Graffagnini soon after he finished second to Dr. Freeland in the Preak-ness Stakes and he ran for John R, Thompson Jr. in the Kentucky Derby. Unlike most of the other prominent eligibles for the American Derby, Minotaur did not go in the important stakes for two-year-olds. He was obtained by his previous owner out of a claiming race. He won a number of races of minor importance and proved to be a very useful racer, but did not aspire to lartre things until this year. His stake accomplisrt-ments have not been very impressive and he has been called a "hard luck colt," but he continued to win a number of overnight handicaps and small purse races. His chief stake engagements this year, and their results, follow : New Year Handicap Unplaced. Louisiana Handicap Unplaced. Mardi Gras Handicap Unplaced. Iouisiana Derby Unplaced. Chesapeake Stakes Unplaced!. Rennert Handicap Won. . 240. Preakness Stakes Second. ,000. Kentucky Derby Unplaced. Fairmount Derby Third. ,500. American Derby Trial Second. 70.
