1 MARYLAND TURF NOTES v . HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 14. Andy Stanton claimed Tony Joe from G. C. Winfrey Saturday for ,000 and B. S. Michell claimed Old Times from A. B. Abbott for ,500 out of the sixth race. Following the running of the sixth race, the stewards suspended jockey G. Horn and his case was referred to the Maryland State Commission, recommending his suspension be continued for .five days. Dr. Henry McCarthy reports that the horses that Joe Edwards was training for E. F. San-ford had entirely recovered from their illnesses and all are again taking their daily gallops. The Cuban trainer, L. Rodriguez, has taken over Runanelf and Fair Dawn for A. Mazzeo, a Philadelphia owner. Fair Dawn was. winner of three races at Oriental Park last winter. Trainer Alexandria had the firing irons applied to Channing L.s ankles.- W. G. Wilson has arranged to ship the eight jumpers he has at the Ross farm at Laurel to St. Marys, Ont. Wilsons brother has one- of the finest schooling grounds in Canada at this place. Wilson never sent a horse to the post that was never , a first class jumper and his plans are not to start any of these horses "until the fall meetings. He is especially pleased with Tiffin, which promises to develop into a first class steeplechaser. Jockey Quattlebaum came down from New York and will ride as a freelance at the meeting. Quattlebaum is still with the Willie Booth stable, but the latter did not ship any of his horses to Maryland this spring. Apostle came out of his race Saturday a badly lamedj horse and he was shipped to Beckers Farm, near Havre de Grace, where he will remain until next fall.
