Rain threatened during the greater part of the afternoon and this was responsible .for a slight falling off in the attendance at the , Fair Grounds this afternoon. The track was at its best and the card provided was made up of evenly balanced fields which provided keen contention. Displaying keen speed throughout, My Girl was never headed during the running of the fifth. Marshall Seth, which forced the pace, was carried slightly wide during the stretch run, which enabled Tetra Glass to slip through next the inner rail near the end and secure second in the closing strides. This event attracted the best field of the afternoon. The time, 1:006. for the full five furlongs marked a new track record. - After following in close pursuit of Timekeeper, the pacemaker, to the stretch in the fourth race, Lassa finished with good courage and headed the former during the last seventy yards. John William II. was a distant but easy third after Vitalize dropped out of contention during the last quarter mile. William Mikels Type added to her already substantial string of victories when she annexed the initial dash after showing the way by a comfortable margin throughout. Get-goin easily disposed of the remainder during the last quarter. Nigricant closed much ground to Tjeat the. others home. Although closely pressed to the stretch head by En Route and Plezall in turn, Roberta L. had enough in reserve to withstand Fill D.s fast closing bid during the run home in the second event. Arrow Hawk also came strongly during the final eighth and was a bang-up third. Quick to begin, Vera C. took command at once in the third number and retained a safe lead at all stages. Hoatzin was always in closest pursuit of the winner and Captain Gilbert proved to be best of the balance but never threatened the leaders. Jockey F. Kiriiry, who suffered a fall here yesterday, sustained a broken bone in his shoulder.
