Start good and slow for all but Sun Frances. Won driving; second and third the same. POINCIANA began quickly, shook off TORRENTIAL after going an eighth and, opening up a winning lead approaching the stretch turn, saved ground, but faltered rapidly in the closing eighth and barely lasted to stall off FINITA. The latter, outpaced for half a mile, gained fast under pressure and would have overtaken the winner in a few more strides. MOMBASA, hurried throughout, was going willingly in the final drive. BROAVN SINNER went evenly. TORRENTIAL dropped back steadily after a fast eighth. LILLAIJELLE was unable to get into a forward position. SUN FRANCES was away very slowly and had no chance. EQLHOISE quickly overtook SCHOONER and, drawing clear leaving the back stretch, saved ground thereafter and, kept under urging near the end, held SCHOONER safe. The latter began swiftly, but was unable to match the winners speed, but held on in game fashion when put under strong pressure. UNCLE SAM made a strong effort entering the stretch, but was not good enough. JUST BELIEVE, hard ridden all the way, saved ground and continued well under urging. SYDKA - came gamely when straightened out in the stretch. FARR was unable to reach a forward position. ROCK REEF raced greenly. LIGHT STEP was outrun. BAINBRIDGE and SCARLET broke slowly. MALOLO, going along la close attendance of the leaders, drew away into a safe lead when reaching the turn, was kept under pressure thereafter and had enough in reserve to withstand FOLAMILE. The latter was put to severe punishment in the last three-eighths and closed gamely. FAIR BOB met with slight interference on the turn out of the back stretch, recovered and finished gamely. BUSINESS, hard urged, held on well near the end. DREANA LEE went wide most of the way. TIN HAT had speed early and tired in the final drive. BUCKY HARRIS was never a factor. SKID, forced to race on the outside for racing room, came fast when put to a drive. ZAHN, badly outrun for half a mile, circled his rivals to close resolutely. GAY PARISIAN, taken iu hand while following EAGER PLAY, gained command when shaken up approaching the stretch and, drawing clear inside the last eighth, had to be hard hustled right at the end to stall off MAXIVA. The latter, allowed to remain within striking distance of the leaders, moved up fast when called upon and, in a fast finish, was wearing down the winner with every stride. EAGER PLAY, rushed into a brief lead, was steadied in front and fought it out with good energy nearing the end of the race. REJUVENATION was kept well placed and showed a good performance. The latter entered contention swiftly when leaving the back stretch, made a bold challenge in the final stages, but was not good enough. WRACKEEN made up ground steadily from a slow start. RED CROSS PRINCESS, in trouble going to the first turn, secured racing room on the back stretch and made up a lot of ground. WRENCH raced forwardly and had no mishaps. TORRENCE tired.
