FAVORIT II. WINS SPRNIT Leads Patsy H. and Old Kickapoo in Sun-Telegraph Purse on Wheeling Track. WHEELING, W. Va., April 24 Favorlt II. turned in a somewhat surprising victory in todays feature race, the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph purse, when he, defeated some of the best regarded sprinters on the Fair Grounds course. He had not shown anything in his previous three starts here. Patsy H. was .second and Old Kickapoo third. The distance was five-eighths of a mile. Just before this, in the fifth race, Bethlehem, another that had been a failure in recent races, won at the distance of a mile and an eighth, those closest to him at the finish being Referendum and Acme. Favorite players began well when En Route won the first race for M. R. Pons. The gelding was fully extended at the end to keep ahead of Freight Clerk and Bright Flag, both of which finished very strong. I Lang forced the early pace but couldnt keep up in the stretch. I Horses in the betting field monopolized the second race. J. G. Angners Broadmoor was the winner, Saratoga was second and Choir Invisible third. Broadmoors victory was scored in handy fashion. Saratoga finished fast. Plezall, the favorite, had to race on the outside, but closed full of run. Kentucky Colonel was much, the best in the third, coming up on the outside and going away after passing Clay Pigeon, which tired after setting a good pace. The latter managed to hold onto second place against a strong challenge by Last Charge, which finished fast.
