SCHOONER, hard urged from the start and nearest in pursuit of the pacemaker, came with a rush when the real struggle began and, in a fast- finish, got up in the last fifty yards. JUST BELIEVE, a quick starter, displayed keen speed to take command, saved ground and continued gamely when hard pressed. ALL HAIL raced rather greenly in the early stages, settled down and finished with good speed. GLIUELIA showed a good performance. WALTER K. lost ground throughout. . SUNVIEW moved away into a good lead directly after the start, raced under restraint to the turn, was shaken up when straightened out in the stretch and held GUIDE RIGHT safe. The latter, hard ridden throughout, was unable to threaten the winner. AVHILEAAVAY, fractious at the barrier, reached a forward position, but was no match for the first two. The latter, rated close to the leaders, lost ground entering the stretch and finished in the middle of the track. ALGOL, a contender all the way, held on resolutely in the final drive. EQUATION was taken wide until settling down for the stretch drive, where he went to the inside. MALOLO began slowly and was unable to get into , a forward position. FAIRY MAIDEN, reserved back of the pace, made a determined effort in the last three-eighths, but was guided wide I in the final stages to finish fast. ANNAPOLIS dropped back directly after the start and could not t menace the leaders. GERARD began to tire after three-quarters. The latter entered contention early, was moving up fast entering the strrtch when he was allowed to o swerve over on CRAZY COOT and NED O. He was disqualified for fimting. SWINFIELD, forced to race on the outside, finished willingly under punishment. FULL DliESS, outrun early, finished fast under r a drive. SKIRL was never able to get to the leaders. NED O. came through on the inside on the stretch turn and was full of run when he met with interfer; nee, which ruined his chances. VOWED VENGEANCE, hustled to the front, was forced to withstand serious early contention from FAIR AL-BELT, iAuuik iuu latter off in the stretch drive, hut tired slightly from his early efforts and hung right at the end. DOCTOR FRED, forced to offer early contention, made several bad efforts in the closing stages and continued courageously under weak riding. TALL GRASS, slow to begin, closed a big gap.
