MY DANDY WINS HANDICAP Reichert Bros Colorbearer Scores at Collinsville Course Reveille Boy Furnlslics Surprise by Out ¬ running Thistle Ann and Tippy Toe In Fourth Race COLLINSVILLE 111 May 14 My Dandy an overwhelming favorite in the East St Louis Journal Handicap feature of the Fair mount Park program today made good in easy fashion for his big following by de ¬ feating Star o Morn and By Product Car ¬ rying top weight of 122 pounds the Reichert Brothers colorbearer displayed all his old time speed and did not give his backers much to worry about aboutThe The fourth race brought out five Fair mount Derby candidates and Reveille Boy the son of Last Reveille and Little Ann proved much the best over Tippy Toe which finished second while Thistle Ann the sturdy filly from the stable of George Collins led home Judge Dixon Wood River Belli Casus Mutual Friend and Whileaway WhileawayThe The winner began well and jockey M Rose took him under steady restraint while Judge Dixon set the pace with Tippy Toe leading Mutual Friend as they completed the first quarter As the field made the stretch turn Judge Dixon gave way to Tippy Toe but Reveille Boy had also moved up fast and soon gained the lead and as the race waned it was apparent that he would be home an easy winner He increased his lead with every stride and had a margin of a length and a half at the end Tippy Toe con ¬ tinued gamely to take second place by two lengths from Thistle Ann after she passed the tiring Judge Dixon The first four horses dominated the race throughout throughoutArrogant Arrogant a son of Dominant and Kings Fancy which has raced so consistently for T Flippen added to his record when he scored an easy victory over President Seth King Bank and nine others of the sprinting division in the first race Arrogant dis ¬ played good speed from the start and took the lead in the first quarter Continuing gamely under good riding by apprentice W Day he maintained his advantage to the end his margin over President Seth being one and onehalf lengths as they passed the finish President Seth raced in closest pursuit of the winner from the start but at no time did he show signs of overcoming the long lead of his conqueror and was giving way rapidly to the belated rush of King Bank who gained considerable ground to get third place place1SEVER 1SEVER SERIOUS FACTORS FACTORSRuth Ruth Gold Mae Price and King Bank grouped as the field came in for considerable support but outside of the performance of the latter they were never serious factors factorsEd Ed McCuan saddled his first winner of the meeting when Water Fowl proved best of the seven that started in the second race Alma Vita finished second with Thistle Spray third Sheila Byrne one of the favorites was unplaced due to her slowness when the start came and was practically eliminated as she failed to make up any ground Tar ¬ nish led for the first threequarters with Bright Flag Thistle Spray and Patti Louise struggling to get into contention as they sped along the back stretch When Tarnish gave way he was supplanted by the winner which came up on the inside with a rush and drew away to a decisive victory Patti Louise and Thistle Spray then engaged in a duel for second place but Alma Vita was gaining rapidly and soon was leading the pair and took second by a length and a half from Thistle Spray which was third thirdEssie Essie representative of the Blue Star Sta ¬ ble easily accounted for the third race when she scored over Germaine Chauvelot Eloise and three others The race for fillies and mares brought out six sprinters with Ger ¬ maine Chauvelot attracting the most support but the McCuan mare failed to prove a match for the winner although she did make up some ground Eloise another of which much was expected failed to menace the first two at any time and was beaten decisively The winner held command at all times during the race and could have had a greater margin at the end had jockey Root elected to urge her Birdassa displayed good early speed but after going a half gave way to the more successful ones Perjury under jockey W Boganowski was the medium of a late play but failed to race to expectations
