May 19 Gallant Fox Williams Woodwards sterling three yearold and winner of the fiftysixth Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs last Saturday left this morning in charge of George Tappen and accompanied hy Wrattler and a pony for Aqueduct When the crack son of Sir Gallahad III and his companion filed out of the Downs where thirtysix hours before he had carried off the coveted Derby honors another of the teeming showers which following in the wake of the deluge which sent the Derby crowd to shelter was in full force forceRain Rain was the order at frequent intervals from Saturday afternoon until only a short time before racing hours today and the wet weather retarded numerous Derby visitors in an attempt to start on the homeward trails Those who found the elements against them comprised chiefly a goodly number of the many hundreds who motored to this city for the Derby DerbyGallant Gallant Fox came in for a full measure of praise in the aftermath and almost to a man the hundreds of
