COMBINATION SCORES AGAIN . Kilmer Wyte Horses One Two in Headliner at Montreal. ■ • Suntica Outstays Dark Mission b a Neck— 1nthuslastlc Crowd of l-adles at Blue Bonnets. ♦ MONTREAL. Que. Juno 17 The Willis Sharpe Kilmer-John Whyte MMmMH which has proved .1 strong one here this spring, added another triumph to its record when their entry finished one-two in the afternoons feature race at Blue Bonnets W. S. Kilmer was the one to furnish the winner when his Suntica heat John Whyte s Dark Mission by a neck Ira Wilsons How ee finished third, beaten by two lengths for MfiNl p.ace. Si started in the race, a dash of five furlongs, for two-year-olds Collectively they were the pick of the youngsters that have been racing in Canada. Howee. with four winning efforts to his credit, three of them in a row and Stefan Jr. Suntica and Park Mission, also winners at Oonnaught Bark and Woodbine and Siwanoy made up the field These four were all well played, and it was a toss-up which would go to the post favorite A last minute play made the entry a slight choice. When the start came Stefan Jr. left the post with a rush, and they had not gone a furious; before he had an advantage of three longtho. Bark Mission and Suntica followed necks apart. On the turn into the stretch the entry began moving up and straightened out for the final drive. Suntica went to the front and led her stable com panion. Bark Mission, by a neck. Passing the Judges stand Siuitica still led by a neck Stefan Jr. tired badly when put to a drive and was last but one at the finish. FNTIU SIASTIC ATTK.NDAM F. Today was Indies Day at Blue Bonnets, and the t..ir sex took advantage of the clubs invitation to witness the sport and turned out in droves, packing the big grandstand and filling the lawns. It was an enthusiastic crowd, and the winners in all of the j events were given ovations The public evidently thought that Uoselys was in .» soft spot in the opening race, and what wagering there was on the race was in the main confined to this racer. The conditions called for maiden three-year-olds and over toiled in Canada. There were six starters and. when the start came Uoselys went to the front and remained there for the entire distance. Cleverloy permitted her to race right along and. making the turn, into the stretch, she had a lead of half a dozen lengths. In the last furlong the winner was shortening her strides and, although she had a margin of two lengths and a half to spare over Ciourdin. she was doing her best. Br.ght Orb finished an easy third, beaten off seven lengths for second place by Oourdin. Backers of Roselys got a return of .80 for their investment. OBBAT sthftch battle. Achtoi Liss and Marcheur staged a great stretch battle in the second and. in a sinew-straining drive, the former lasted long enough to win by a head. This was a dash of six furlongs for three-year-olds, under claiming conditions. Eight started. In the early stages Uvira and Snap went to the front and raced heads apart. On the far turn Hayiinie, which had been rating along in thud place, came through next to the rail and took command. When straightened out for the final drive Haytime quit and Bvira again took the lead. Marcheur was gaining on the outside and. finishing with splendid courage under punishment, was gradually gaining on Achtoi Lass, but the filly, although staggering at the end. managed to last long enough to get the judges verdict. Visionary came from behind with a rush in the last furlong, and was an easy third. Vvira eras fourth and Haytime sixth. The third race brought an ordinary band of plater., to the post. It was a race over six furlongs, with allowances, and Carilina, racing in the colors of W. J. Norton, was favorite. Carilina ran a good race and had she begun faster it is doubtful if Castaway-would have beaten her. The latter shook off Monde after they had gone a quarter and increased her advantage to three lengths making the turn into the stretch. Carilina in the meantime was oack in fifth place. After passing the three furlongs post Carilina began gaining and. coming through on the inside, saved ground. She made a bold effort in the final stages, finishing gamely under punishment, and in a driving finish was beaten a length and a quarter by Castaway. Patricia Agnes was going fastest of all at the end and was only beaten by a head for second place. Tuscan Knight and Monde both quit. June Moon was a lucky winner in the fifth race when she beat Wrench by half a length. The winner was lucky in escaping interference, while Wrench had a very rough race. On the turn out of the back stretch Wrench came through on the inside. He was moving up fast and just when it looked as if he was going to the front he was caught in a jam and was knocked back. June Moon, in the meantime, moved up to Wig and, going into the stretch, shook off the latter and drew away into a lead of two lengths. At the end she tired and Cooper was working on her like a Trojan. Wrench, when he finally got clear, came again and the finish found him gradually-gaining on the winner. Manager Evers finished third, beaten a length for second place. Wig quit and finished last. The dual mutuel. Castaway and June Moon, paid a return of 37.15 for a ticket.
